Data Sharing Practices
Wastewater data is submitted daily to CDC’s wastewater monitoring program. Through this partnership, we submit wastewater data and develop capacity to lead surveillance efforts in our communities.
Community wastewater data from testing sites across the country are publicly available on CDC's wastewater data for common respiratory viruses and emerging pathogens.
Dataset
This dataset provides detailed wastewater data collected from participating treatment plants across New York State, offering insights into sample analysis details.
GitHub
The NYS Wastewater Surveillance GitHub facilitates code sharing and collaboration with other health departments and organizations engaged in wastewater surveillance initiatives.
Reports
Participating wastewater treatment plants and local health departments receive reports with information on transmission levels and trends. This information provides them with a greater understanding of community-level risk.
Weekly Memo
The weekly wastewater surveillance memos provide insights into SARS-CoV-2 detection levels, regional and statewide trends over time (including New York City), and the percentage of the population covered by wastewater surveillance efforts. The weekly memos also include genetic sequencing data as well as forecasts of COVID-19 hospitalizations.
Measles Report
The Network includes approximately 185 actively participating wastewater treatment plants. A subset of these were selected for measles testing, focusing on low measles vaccination rates and other risk factors. Additional sampling locations may be added (and archived samples tested) should human measles cases be detected in an area not currently routinely tested.
